I always love the new year. Although I realize that on any given day throughout the year I am perfectly capable of resetting my priorities and making new goals, there is just something about the start of a new year.  I know some people are anti-New-Year-Resolution, but I am not one of them.  This by no means means that I excel at keeping them, but I do love making them!

Before starting this blog, I blogged off and on at That’s {FAM}tastic! I had been thinking about getting back into blogging, but was considering changing to a blog name that was a little simpler (minus the punny, not-a-real-word title; brackets; exclamation point, etc.). I asked my sister Caroline what she thought, and she told me that she had been thinking High Wire would be a good name…considering all the balancing we do in life sometimes feels like being up on a tightrope. She told me she would blog with me once a week, and thus our blog was born!

Anyway, the reason I mentioned That’s {FAM}tastic! is because last year I did a 101 in 1,001 days goal post, so I thought I would link it here, on my post about goals.  You can check it out there if you like.  Maybe I’ll even update it on this blog from time to time. We’ll see. It was fun having tons of specific goals for things I want to do for myself, my home and my family, but I decided this year I also wanted to make a short list of personal goals (since 1,001 things can seem a little daunting at times!).

So, here they are, my 2012 goals:

  • Study my scriptures daily.
  • Read a General Conference talk with my husband each Sunday.
  • Work on family photobooks for at  least an hour each Sunday.
  • Walk 3 times a week (I’ve been doing good at the other goals so far, but this one–not so much).
  • Read to my kids 30 minutes every day.
  • Go on more dates with my husband (We used to go out at least a couple of times a month, but since my second baby was born last January we’ve only been on a few. We need to bring dating back!)

Blog/Shop Related:

  • Post on HWL 1-2 times a week.
  • I would love to have 100 followers by the end of the year. That’s doable, right?
  • I would love to make to make at least 40 sales in my new shop.

I was really trying to be realistic while setting these, because I hate that feeling of not being able to reach my lofty ambitions.  I’m going to try and do a monthly goal recap to keep myself accountable, if that’s okay with you!

What are your goals this year?
