cinnamon sugar drop biscuits with melted buttercream frosting 

I originally started using this recipe because I ran out of bisquick and didn’t want to go to the store.  Then I figured out I could have healthier biscuits if I made a few substitutions.  Whole wheat flour and olive oil make these preservative free and yummy too!

homemade buisquick
10 cups flour (I use whole wheat)
1/2 cup baking powder
2 tbs white sugar (I have never used honey here, let me know how it goes if you try it!)
2 tsp salt
1 1/4 cups oil (I use olive oil, any vegetable oil should work well)

combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a bowl.  Drizzle in oil as dry ingredients mix in the mixer.  Mixture should have small lumps and resemble sand.  Store in an airtight container in a cool  dry place.  Store in refrigerator if you aren’t using it within a month or it will go rancid.

The biscuits you make with this mix will be a little more dense than white flour biscuits because of the bran in the whole wheat flour.  I usually just make  drop biscuits (cause I’m lazy :)) with some cheese and milk or cinnamon, sugar and milk.  Yummy and quick!
